Finless porpoises, Asian elephants … Wild animals frequently appear to witness the effectiveness of biodiversity protection in China.
CCTV News:Known as the "smiling angel", the Yangtze finless porpoise is the flagship species of aquatic life protection in the Yangtze River. In recent days, a Yangtze finless porpoise investigation team has repeatedly observed the scene of "mother and child dolphins" playing in the water during a field trip in Jingjiang City, Taizhou, Jiangsu Province.
On the morning of July 9, when the boats of the Yangtze finless porpoise investigation team drove to the memorial park of the "First Sail on the Eastern Line", the Yangtze finless porpoise frequently jumped out of the water, scattered around the boats in groups of three or five, and at least eight were observed.
Since 2021, Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Jingjiang City have jointly conducted a biodiversity survey, and the Wetland College of Yancheng Normal University has set up an investigation team to carry out observation and research on finless porpoises in Jingjiang section of the Yangtze River. Although the recent hot weather and fast water flow in the Yangtze River are not conducive to the observation of finless porpoises, the investigation team has repeatedly observed finless porpoises in the river section and Xinqiao section of Mucheng Park. The frequent appearance of mother and child dolphins also reflects the stability of finless porpoises in Jingjiang section of the Yangtze River.
Wang Zhengfei, the leader of the Yangtze finless porpoise investigation team, said: "There are new individuals and mother and child porpoises, which means that such a group may be growing and the overall living conditions are good."
According to long-term scientific observation, there are two finless porpoises in Jingjiang section of the Yangtze River, with a population of about 40.
Yunnan: More than 20 Asian elephants "stroll" over the guardrail at high speed.
Recently, in the direction from Mengla to Shang Yong on Xiaomo Expressway in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province, more than 20 wild Asian elephants "big families" crossed the guardrail, got on the expressway and "wandered" for a long time before leaving.
As can be seen from the monitoring screen, in the early morning of the 7 th, more than 20 Asian elephants moved slowly along the high speed. When the vehicle passed by, the elephants immediately dodged and protested with cries. Finally, at 7 o’clock in the morning, this group of Asian elephants left the expressway and entered the reserve.
52 national second-class protected birds were released into nature.
Recently, 52 national second-class protected birds were released to nature in Hulunbeier, Inner Mongolia, including 41 Mongolian larks and 11 larks. It is understood that in June this year, Hulunbeier City Public Security Bureau Hulun Lake National Nature Reserve Branch cracked an illegal poaching case and seized 106 young birds. After more than a month of professional rescue in the local area, 52 young birds were able to eat independently and have the ability to fly, reaching the standard of wild release. The remaining 54 young birds will return to the embrace of nature when they are released.
