This year’s Beijing Olympic Games broke 43 new world records and 132 new Olympic records, and a total of 87 countries won medals in the event. The host country, China, topped the medal list with 51 gold medals, making it the first Asian country to top the gold medal list in Olympic history. This Olympic Games has produced two "flying men" on water and land — — Phelps of the United States and Bolt of Jamaica, the former won eight gold medals in a row in the "Water Cube", not only becoming the athletes who won the most gold medals in the same Olympic Games, but also becoming the athletes who won the most gold medals in the summer Olympic Games; The latter won three gold medals in men’s 100m, men’s 200m and men’s 4×100 relay in eight days at the Bird’s Nest, and was praised as the fastest runner in the world.
