Why does Huawei still use EMUI instead of HarmonyOS in overseas markets?
As everyone expected, when Huawei’s mobile phone supply chain resumed, there was no need to worry about the chip problem, and after it resumed its dual flagship for one year, it once again focused on overseas.
At present, Pura70 series mobile phones have been pre-sold in Malaysia, Europe and other places, which means that Huawei is no longer afraid of being suppressed, so Huawei can impact overseas markets again after being suppressed for more than three years.

However, careful netizens also found that the system of Huawei’s mobile phones in overseas markets was different from the HarmonyOS system used in China, using EMUI14.2 instead of HarmonyOS.
In addition, it seems that there is no satellite communication function. After all, this satellite communication is based on Beidou and Tiantong satellites. In overseas markets, these satellites may not be called like the domestic market, just as Apple’s iPhone has satellite communication function in North America, but the Bank of China is also gone.

Then the question is, why does Huawei use EMUI instead of installing HarmonyIS system on mobile phones in overseas markets?
First of all, it should be explained that whether the system is called HarmonyOS or EMUI is just a name given by Huawei. The early EMUI was modified based on Android AOSP.
But in fact, when EMUI developed to EMUI14 version, it was changed long ago. At present, the bottom layer of EMUI14.2 is actually a HarmonyOS system, which is just a statement.

Why not change its name to HarmonyOS overseas? The reason is that overseas users are used to the EMUI system. If you change it to HarmonyOS, others will not necessarily buy it. Instead, they will call it EMUI, which they prefer and are more familiar with.
In addition, although the overseas system is called EMUI, which is also based on the bottom layer of HarmonyOS, it is still a little different. Because the system can’t install GMS, Huawei has also made some adjustments in the overseas version, allowing users to freely install GMS, which is a little different from HarmonyOS in China.
After installing GMS, overseas users can install Google Family Bucket. After all, Google Family Bucket is very important for overseas users. If Google Family Bucket cannot be installed, many people may not buy this mobile phone, so this is also a compromise of Huawei.

However, with the launch of HarmonyNEXT by Huawei, that is, pure blood HarmonyOS system, and when the ecology is becoming more and more perfect, Huawei may also promote HarmonyOS in overseas markets in the future. After all, GMS and Google’s whole family will not be needed at that time, but that will be later, not now.
